Service-Oriented and Committed to Action
Ever wish you could change things? Make a difference? See things differently?
You can. We can together.
At ReNew Community, we see a world where everyone matters. We are good neighbors who want to make the Ames community better. We won’t just sit in church; we will get out and serve others, putting our Christian faith into action. Want to come along? Be a part of a vital church that brings renewal to the lives of real people. Together, we can make a difference!
Ongoing Partnerships in The Community
Grip Mentoring
ReNew Community has begun a partnership with Youth & Shelter Services and their GRIP Mentoring program. Volunteers in this program meet with a child once a week in school to provide a positive adult relationship. Volunteers are needed in Ames, Huxley, Nevada, Gilbert & Boone school districts.
For more information on becoming a mentor, or to volunteer, contact Carla Roberts at YSS.
MICA
Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA) is a private, nonprofit organization serving children and families in central Iowa.
ACCESS
To address the roots and impact of domestic and sexual violence through services that enhance safety, empower survivors, and promote understanding and social justice within our community
Serving Within ReNew Community
We believe that church is not a spectator sport! Investing in the community at Renew means shifting from a “consumer” mentality to finding ways to use your talents and time to contribute. There are a variety of ways to get involved in serving at ReNew!
Hospitality Team
Do you have a friendly smile and a heart to help people feel welcomed? You’d be perfect for our hospitality team! Come a bit early to set up our coffee station. Then as people arrive, you’ll help people feel welcomed and answer any questions they might have.
Kids & Youth
ReNew is blessed with a lot of kids of all ages! We have opportunities to help take care of little ones in the nursery, and teach 4yr olds-1st graders on Sunday mornings. ReNew Kids’ Club, 2nd – 5th graders, meets on Wednesday nights and needs adult volunteers. And our new junior high youth group, 6th-8th graders, has opportunities for adults who can’t resist being a kid again!
Worship Team
Our Worship team listens to and practice music to be prepared for rehearsal and Sunday morning Worship. Then we play on worship teams during church on Sundays from 10am until after the service. Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 7-9pm and Sunday mornings at 8am. We also maintain Planning Center profile to stay up to date with music, rehearsals, and schedules.
Audio Team
Our Audio Team manages audio during worship service (mix audio, manage mics, etc.). We also mic check our pastor and wireless handheld mic before service starts. We become familiar with Behringer X-Air digitally controlled mixer and accompanying software. We attend rehearsal with worship team on Thursday nights from 7-9pm (optional) and on Sunday mornings from 8am-10am.
Visual Team
Our Visual Team records video of the sermon, uploads the video to YouTube after the service and runs the slides during Sunday worship from 10am to end of service. They also set out offering baskets and count offering during sermon. We ask they be present for Sunday morning worship practice at 8am and check slides as needed.
Building & Grounds
We have several opportunities related to taking care of our building and the grounds that surround it. Service hosts help with various facility tasks on Sunday mornings to help create a hospitable environment for our guests and regular attenders. The turf team keeps our grass looking good! And the fix it team serves on an as-needed basis, handling small facility-related projects that pop up from time to time.
